I have been
involved with the WMBDC since 1995. After a hiatus, I have
returned to this special club. While I have also owned purebreds,
mixes have a special place in my heart, as these are the dogs that have
some of the hardest lives.
I have always felt strongly about this club, and feel that we can make a
great contribution- not only to the dog, but also to the owner- of a dog
that has 'issues'. When you own a purebred dog, there is always a
breed club to turn to for help, answers, or assistance. When you
own mixes, there are fewer options.
I am a strong believer that if our club
helps just one dog and owner have a better relationship-quite possibly
keeping the dog from being left alone in the back yard for its life or
released to a shelter, then we have accomplished a lot.
While I enjoy competing in performance
sports with my dogs, I also feel that spending quality FUN time is
important, too. I enjoy taking my dogs camping and just walking
them in the park.
I hope to see many new faces at our upcoming
events! |

I have been an active member of the WMBDC since 1992.
My beloved collie mix, Hannah, was the reason I got involved in this
club. Hannah earned a few titles, and always laid claim to a large part
of my heart - and still does, even though she is no longer with me.
My parents wouldn't let any of us have a dog when we were growing up, so
I didn't get my first dog until I was 18. I have had dogs ever since
then. I have had several mixed breeds, a Shetland Sheepdog, and I
currently have my second Rhodesian Ridgeback and a Greyhound.
I have been active in dog rescue since 1992, working with Dachshunds,
Brittanys, small mixes and Rhodesian Ridgebacks. I am currently the
Northwest Regional Coordinator for Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue, Inc. and
am active with Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue and Greyhound Rescue.
In the past, I have been active in Obedience, Tracking and Herding. With
my current dogs, I am active in Conformation, Lure Coursing, Oval Track
Racing and Sprint Racing. I also intend to compete in Obedience and
Tracking, and possibly Agility.
I am married to Mark Pedersen; we have been married since March of 1998.
I work for The Boeing Company at the Everett plant, doing engine
inspections and using fiber optic scopes to perform inspections in
inaccessible areas and to retrieve foreign objects from jumbo jets. I
have worked for Boeing since January of 1985.
Of course, my main hobbies are competing, playing and spending time with
my dogs (my husband is a "dog widower"). I also like to cook, read, hike
and bird. And I like to drive my 1990 Mustang convertible on the rare
sunny warm days we get here in the Pacific Northwest, and I confess I
like to drag-race it - at least then I don't get any tickets!
Mark and I live in Lake Stevens in Snohomish County. |
